The FBI is probing allegations that some Detroit Police narcotics officers may have improperly obtained search warrants for raids, and stole evidence and money from drug houses and marijuana dispensaries, the Motor City Muckraker reports.

Citing unnamed sources, Steve Neavling of Motor City Muckraker, reported that the investigation has been ongoing for a more than a month.

Neaving reports that the investigation is aimed at six members of the disbanded narcotics unit who were suspended recently after surveillance video showed them removing a box during a raid that was never recorded as evidence.

Neavling writes:

But FBI agents are looking far beyond a single case. The unit is accused of improperly gaining search warrants for an untold number of houses and marijuana dispensaries, where money and drugs were seized and never logged. Many of the cases have not been prosecuted.

Sgt. Michael Woody, when contacted by Deadline Detroit, declined to comment.

FBI spokesman David K. Porter said: "I can't provide any comment at this time." -- Allan Lengel
