First Mile of Rail Arrives for M-1

The M-1 Rail is slowly taking shape.

Construction workers have been digging up Woodward and getting ready to lay down tracks.

Crain's Detroit Business reports that the project took delivery of the first mile of steel rail last week from Pittsburgh-based rail products manufacturer L.B. Foster Co. More is expected to come this week for the 3.3 mile project.

Crain's reports that each piece of rail is 80 feet long and weighs more than 3,000 pounds.
