Cops Called to Game, But Player Who Gave Choke Hold Isn't Charged

September 25, 2014, 8:13 AM

These have not been great public relations days for football.

In the pros, there have been a number of allegations involving domestic abuse. At the high school level, we've been witnessing the deconstruction of Cass Tech football star Jayru Campbell.

Now, the latest:

Last Friday, at Orchard Lake St. Mary's homecoming game,  a player from University of Detroit Jesuit put St. Mary's running back Brandon Adams in what appeared to be a choke hold, Taryn Asher of  Fox 2 reports.

Several people had to pull the U  of D player off.

Police were called to the scene, but no charges have been filed. The player who was choked was not injured and played the remainder of the game. The U of D player was ejected and now has been cut from the team.

The second-quarter incident stunned the team and outraged fans, the station says. St. Mary's won 42-7.
