In the past couple weeks, it looked as if the Tigers would be sitting in first place by the last game.
But here it was, on a gorgeous, sunny, Sunday in downtown Detroit and the Tigers were up against the wall, one game up on the very last day of the season.
Then came David Price, who pitched a tremendous game. Second baseman Ian Kinlser homered in the third and the Tigers added two more in the eighth.
Then came Joe Nathan in the ninth. What was a fan to think? Be optimistic? Worry? Many of us worried, but remained optimistic. After all, the Tigers had a three run lead.
Well, Big Joe, in a not-so characteristic way, made it look easy and put Minnesota away, one, two three. Final score 3-0.
And suddenly, the Tigers looked like the winners they were supposed to be the entire.
On Thursday, it's the Tigers v Orioles in Baltimore.
Let the fun begin.
