Construction begins next year on the Red Wings' new arena, and preparations include a glitzy website that links to information for job-seekers.

The flashy site, designed by Lowe Campbell Ewald, also has details about plans for an entertainment and sports district -- branded as The District Detroit -- and about five neighborhoods within it.

Here's what visitors learn at a page about jobs, as well as contractor and supplier opportunities:

The construction of The District, including the arena, is expected to create approximately 8,300 construction and construction-related jobs. . . .

"DESC is partnering with the lead contractor for District Detroit, Barton Malow Hunt White, to help contractors meet the requirement for hiring 51% Detroit labor," it explains, adding:

District Detroit’ will be a world-class development that will also allow the development of a world-class skilled labor force in the city of Detroit. . . .

New activity will result in major contracting opportunities for Detroit area business in the building trades and complimentary industries.
