Suddenly Governor's Race Too Close to Call

October 29, 2014, 11:40 PM

Just recently the polls showed Gov. Rick Snyder pulling away in his bid for re-election against Democratic opponent Mark Schauer.

Now, with election day coming up next Tuesday, a WXYZ-TV 7/Detroit Free Press poll shows that the race is too close to call.

The poll shows Snyder leading  45% - 43%.

“But when you factor in the partisan leaning of the undecided, the race is dead even,” says Channel 7 pollster Bernie Porn, according to a report by WXYZ's Jeff Vaughn.

WXYZ reports that 4 percent of  likely voters will vote for third party candidates and 9% are still undecided.

Two weeks ago, the WXYZ poll showed Snyder leading by 8 points.

“Schauer’s political advertising dealing with Michigan’s economic issues and pensions has been more effective than the Governor’s," Porn tells WXYZ.
