Update, 11:50 a.m. All available tickets are distributed, readers LeAnne Peebles, Laura N. Bagley of Rochester and Janelle Therese of Sterling Heights tell us.
Fans voice frustration, sometimes profanely, after trying futilely for more than an hour Saturday morning to get free Ford Field tickets to Monday night's relocated Buffalo Bills-New York Jets game.
Hundreds, perhaps thousands, couldn't get past the first verification screen at the Lions' website requesting a typed-in code designed to thwart automated ticket requests by potential scalpers.
Tickets were still available, the team posted on its Facebook site about 20 minutes after the 10 a.m. starting time for requests. "We are aware of the issue and are working with Flash Seats to get it fixed. Stay turned for further updates," it said.
Several Deadline Detroit readers say on our Facebook page that they eventually got through and have general admission seats:
- "After multiple tries I was able to get 4 tickets." -- Bill Shadowens, Macomb Township, 11:03 a.m.
- "I just went online and got my four tickets." -- Heidi Eileen Hesser, Canton, 10:41 a.m.
- "I just got my tickets, try smaller quantities of tickets and it works." -- Eric Thayer, Rochester Hills, 10:34 a.m.
- "Persistence pays. I got 4 just now. The server is intermittently failing due to a significant volume increase. Just because you see the error doesn't mean there aren't any left. I tried 20+ times and got them." -- Jay Easterday, 10:35 a.m.
- "It's working now, I got my tickets." -- Alex Brayman, Wayne, 10:28 a.m.
- "Multiple attempts but finally got mine." -- Mike Vettraino, Detroit, 10:16 a.m.
- "I finally got my tickets after almost a hour hitting refresh and countless time typing a series of letters." -- Steve Paljusevic, Detroit, 11:49 a.m.
