Descriptions of "Pure Michigan" visitor attractions are being shared in China, thanks to a Mandarin language website created by state tourism boosters.
"The Michigan Economic Development Corporation has launched a Travel Michigan website in Chinese: TravelMichigan.cn," Emily Lawler writes at MLive.
Gov. Rick Snyder and Dave Lorenz, manager of Travel Michigan, talk about it during a current business development trip to that country, she adds.
"The Great Lakes is a huge selling point because of the wonderful shoreline we have, so I talk about Sleeping Bear Dunes and Mackinac Island as two great opportunities. . . .
"What we’re working on is getting them for their second or third trip” [to America].
A Detroit-focused section of the new site mentions the emergence from bankruptcy, the DIA and "four world-class porfessional sports teams.".
The outreach also includes brochures and a video in Mandarin.
