From Home, On His Phone, Windsor Ice Cream Store Owner Watches Workers Get Robbed

December 16, 2014, 4:00 PM

Ahh. The joys and the not so joyful aspects of modern technology.

Ace Adhami, owner of a Baskin-Robbins ice cream joint in Windsor, watched at home on a remote surveillance system connected to his store as his employees were robbed at gunpoint Sunday night, the Windsor Star reported.

Trevor Wilhelm of the Star writes that Adhami was watching Sunday Night Football around 9:30 p.m. when he checked the surveillance camera at his ice store via his cellphone.

What he saw was two men wearing hoods and masks.

“They ran in, ducked down if you want to say at about knee height,” Adhami told the Star. "They ran behind the counter. Usually customers don’t go behind the counter. My employee, on the camera you can actually see him backing up and he’s kind of putting up his hands.”

One man had a gun.

“I just jumped out of my Lazy Boy," he said, according to the star.

Windsor police said a store employee called 911.

Adhami also called 911 and talked to police while he drove to the store. The robbers were gone by the time the cops arrived.

No one was hurt. Police are looking for the robbers. -- Allan Lengel
