GUILTY! Jury Finds Bob Bashara Murdered His Wife Of 25 Years

December 18, 2014, 2:42 PM by  Allan Lengel

The verdict is hardly a surprise, considering handyman Joe Gentz insisted Bob Bashara forced him to kill Jane Bashara, The Detroit News reports.

Wayne County Circuit Court jurors Thursday afternoon found Bashara guilty of first-degree murder and all the other related charges from the 2012 death of his spouse of 25 years.

WWJ’s Marie Osborne reports that Bashara appeared emotionless for the most part as the verdict was read for each charge: first degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, solicitation to commit murder, witness intimidation and obstruction of justice. At one point he shook his head.

The verdict won't immediately change the lifestyle of Bashara, serving 6 years and 8 months to 20 years behind bars for attempting to have Gentz killed while he was in the county jail.  The first-degree murder conviction carries a mandatory life sentence without parole.

The lengthy trial brought out a world the average person knows little about. There was talk of a sex dungeon and kinky sex and an alternative lifestyle.

Earlier in the week, it was unclear when jury deliberations would resume.

On Monday, Bashara fell sick and was taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital for tests for an undisclosed medical issue. Wayne County Circuit Judge Vonda Evans halted deliberations and put them on hold until Bashara was OK.

On Thursday morning, after Bashara had been released from the hospital, jury deliberations resumed.

George Hunter of The Detroit News reports that screaming could be heard coming from the jury room during deliberations.

Hunter reported:

"I'm tired of this," one of the jurors was heard saying in a loud voice as the group of nine men and three women huddled in the jury room, adjacent to the eighth-floor courtroom.
