Mohamad El-Masri, owner of Scizzors Inc. hair salon in Windsor, had to deal with two racially charged vandalism attacks in September. His shop on Erie Street nearly burned down,  the Windsor Star reports.

Last week, El-Masri reopened his shop.

Derek Spalding of the Windsor Star writes Mohamed El-Masri was disappointed when he arrived at his Scizzors Inc. men’s salon in September to find racial slurs spray painted on his front windows. The windows were also full of pellet gun holes.

Days later, the paper reports, vandals tried torching the shop by by smashing a bathroom window, pouring fuel inside and lighting it on fire, the paper reported. There was $10,000 in damages.

El-Masri has not been deterred.

The paper reports that the community has rallied behind him and offered to help restore the building, and new customers have come to show support.

“Obviously, it was a little disappointing to see something like that, but I knew right away there were haters in the mix,” he told the Windsor Star. “I just figured it’s a matter of people making dumb choices. I have no enemies, no problems with anybody, but it’s just bad choices that some people make.”
