The city of Pontiac is getting a little boost.
Justin Blitchok of The Oakland Press reports that an advanced battery technology company is moving to a former General Motors facility on Pontiac’s Centerpoint Campus, creating more than 300 manufacturing jobs.
He writes:
Energy Power Systems announced Thursday that it has leased 150,000 square feet of space from California-based Industrial Realty Group, which purchased 154 acres of former General Motors property near South Boulevard and Opdyke Road in December.
The low-emissions factory is expected to open in early 2016, producing batteries for fuel-efficient, start/stop and micro-hybrid vehicles, energy storage, renewable energy integration and charging components for electric vehicles.
