Downtown Eatery Scrapping Barbecue for Bicycles and New Menu

February 26, 2015, 7:14 AM

Rub BBQ and Pub at Grand Circus Park in downtown Detroit, which opened in 2010, is getting a big makeover.

It's changing from a sports-friendly barbecue joint to Cykel, a bicycle-friendly bar and restaurant with vegetarian options and shareable plates, writes Melody Baetens of the Detroit News. The new format will debut Mach 29.

“The vibe is going to change,” new manager Jason Halll of Cykel tells the News “For years they made it as a sports bar, right across the street from Comerica Park.”

“We’re getting rid of barbecue completely,” he said, telling the News that about half of the new menu will be vegetarian-friendly. They'll also serve bar food and shareable dishes.
