Let' face it, it was an uphill battle for Gov. Rick Snyder even before this.

Now,  Snyder has lost the support of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce which announced Monday it would remain neutral in the May 5 election when voters will decide on a $1.2 billion plan to improve Michigan roads and raise the state sales tax from 6 to 7 percent, Gary Heinlein of the Detroit News reports.

“After careful consideration, the Michigan Chamber has concluded there is not a consensus within our membership to either support or oppose the May 5 ballot proposal,” Chamber CEO and President Richard Studley said in a statement, according to the News.

“Therefore, the Michigan Chamber will not take a position for or against Proposal 1,” Studley said. “Between now and May 5, the Chamber will focus our efforts on educating and informing Chamber members about the proposal.”
