Eater Detroit Picks Detroit and Ferndale's Hot Restaurants For March

March 06, 2015, 5:04 PM

Eater Detroit writes about the most popular restaurants in Detroit as of now, as in March.

The listing is part of a feature called Heatmap, which aims to pinpoint the most popular places to eat and drink each month.

Eater's Brenna Houck's list includes the newly opened Republic:

Republic, 1942 Grand River, Detroit
This long anticipated G.A.R. Building restaurant was finally revealed last month and is already earning praise for its historic tavern feel and menu composed of small plates and “feasts.” While chef Kate Williams' food is often described as “meat-centric” there are plenty of vegetarian options and the craft cocktails are worth a trip.

Other eating spots include:

  • Selden Standard, 3921 Second Avenue, Detroit
  • Torino, 201 E 9 Mile Rd, Ferndale
  • Wright & Co., 1500 Woodward, Detroit
  • Batch Brewing Company, 1400 Porter St. Detroit
  • Cafe 78, 4454 Woodward Avenue, Detroit
  • Krema Pastry Shop, Trappers Alley Shopping Center, 531 Monroe Avenue, Detroit
  • Azul Mexican Cantina (in the DIA beginning March 15)
  • El Asador Mexican Steakhouse (Frida Kahlo Menu)*,1312 Springwells St. Detroit
  • El Barzon Restaurante (Frida Kahlo Menu)*, 3710 Junction St, Detroit

  • Kuzzo's Chicken & Waffles, 19345 Livernois Ave, Detroit
  • Zeke's R&R BBQ, 240 W 9 Mile Rd, Ferndale

*Some of the restaurants, in honor of the Detroit Opera's production of "Frida", will be making food that the artist  Frida Kahlo enjoyed.
