The gruesome details continue to surface about the life of Mitchelle Blair, 35, who has confessed to killing two of her children and stuffing them in a freezer at their apartment on Detroit's east side.
A child protective petition filed this week to prevent the jailed mom from having custody of her two surviving children, Gabrielle Blair, 17, and Matthew Berry, 8, provides details of torture, death and fear. Authorities interviewed the surviving children, both of whom said they knew their dead siblings had been in the freezer.
Blair currently faces child abuse charges and is expected to be charged with murder. She is sitting jail. Bond was set at $1 million.
The document states that one child, Stoni Blair, was believed to have died on May 25, 2013 at age 12. Her brother Stephen Berry was believed to have died Aug. 30, 2012 at age 9.
The document states that Stoni Blair told her mother that she didn't like two of the other children. The mother became enraged and strangled Stoni with a black t-shirt and suffocated her with a plastic bag.
The mom then made the daughter, Gabrielle Blair, who is still alive, put her dead sister Stoni in the deep freezer, the document said.
It went on to say that the mom physically abused Gabrielle and her siblings, and the mom burned Gabrielle on her back with a clothing iron. Her mother also broke her front tooth with a curling iron.
The document states that the mother tortured Stephen Berry, 9, for about two weeks prior to his death "by tying a belt around his neck, throwing hot water on him while in the shower and putting a plastic bag over his head."
On Aug. 30, 2012, the mom found her son Stephen unresponsive and wrapped his body in bed linen and placed him in the freezer.
A court bailiff, who was evicting the family from the home at 804 Saint Aubin St. on Tuesday was removing items from the home and discovered the bodies in the freezer.
