Detroit Cop Accused in Drive-By Shooting in Macomb County

April 16, 2015, 1:53 PM

Usually a cop isn't the one involved in a drive-by shooting.

Usually.

This time is different.

Holly Fournier of the Detroit News reports that a Detroit cop has been suspended for a drive-by shooting in Ray Township in Macomb County that happened early Thursday. He is accused of firing five shots at the home. It doesn't appear anyone was hurt.

It happened around 3 a.m. in 16000 block of 29 Mile near Romeo Plank, the News reports. Macomb County deputy sheriffs responded to reports of gunfire hitting the home, the News reports.

Apparently, the officers wife provides medical care to a woman at that home who lives with her husband.

"There was some sort of dispute between the (residents) and the female caregiver, and the caregiver went home and had a conversation with her husband (the cop)," Michalke said. "He got in his car and drove over there and fired shots out of his vehicle into the front of the home."

The office had told sheriff's deputies that he was on a leave of absence from the department.
