Accused Detroit Serial Rapist, 21, Was Only 14 Years Old in 1 Case

Michael Sykes, 21, who was arraigned on Wednesday, is accused of being a serial rapist in Detroit and raping five women.

WDIV's Lauren Podell reports that Sykes, who was arrested Friday is accused of raping multiple women in two cases, one of which happened seven years ago when he was only 14.

He is also is also accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting three women on March 29 near Fenkell Avenue and Schaefer Highway. Police are doing further testing to see if he's linked to other rapes.

In the 2008 case, he is accused of sexually assaulting and robbing two women in an alley at Wisconsin and Cortland streets, WDIV reports.

His family said he is being falsely accused, WDIV reports. 

WDIV reports that Sykes has a juvenile record for two sexual assaults dating back to 2008 and 2009.
