A comeback at the Packard Plant on Detroit's east side is taking shape.

And Nima Shaffe of WXYZ reports that Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan is expected to speak at a press conference Thursday afternoon at the plant. The press conference is being held by the company, Display Group, which makes event props, rental office furniture and other products.

Display has purchased and is renovating Building 22 at the Packard Plant, for its new headquarters. WXYZ reports.  The 255,000 square-foot building is separate from the section of the plant developer Fernando Palazuelo purchased last year. Display is currently headquartered on Fort Street in Detroit.

WXYZ reports that some work has already been done on the building including cleaning the entire warehouse, sandblasting brick, putting in a new roof and installing a video security system.

Crain's Detroit Business reported last year that  the company expects to keep its showroom in the Fort Street building, but move company inventory, offices and manufacturing to the Packard building.
