Pacific Island Barbecue Truck Debuts in Ann Arbor

May 05, 2015, 8:24 AM

One of the latest entries into the caloric world is Ricewood, a Chamorro or Pacific Island barbecue food truck in Ann Arbor.

Brenna Houck of Eater Detroit notes that the mobile restaurant is the works of Chef Frank Fejerdan. The trailer debuted on Monday. By the way, Wikipedia describes Chamorro people as the "indigenous peoples of the Mariana Islands, which are politically divided between the United States territory of Guam and the United States Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands in Micronesia."

The chef serves up a simple menu of slow roasted barbecue over rice, Eater Detroit writes. The truck is parked next to Morgan & York cheese and wine shop at 1449 Jorn Ct.

Ricewood's Facebook page said this on Monday:

Thank you to everyone who came out and made our first day such a huge success!! We sold out in 1 hour and 40 mins...WOW!!! See you tomorrow.
