A trip to a Wendy's drive through in Detroit on Sunday morning ended in deadly violence.

Shawn Ley of WDIV reports that a father, Christopher Reed, 28,  was fatally shot, and  his 9-year-old son was shot and wounded in the hand at Wendy's drive through in the 22000 block of Grand River near Lahser on Detroit's west side during a robbery and carjacking around 3 a.m.  A five-year-old son in the car was not injured.

The victims were in a purple Dodge Magnum when two men approached the car with guns and announced a robbery, WDIV reports. Reed handed over cash and a Rolex watch, but the robbers fired into the car for no apparent reason, WDIV reports.

Reed was then shoved into the passenger seat, and the robbers drove the two boys from Wendy's.  The nine-year-old called his mom, and the carjackers fled from the car, WDIV reports.
