Detroit Tigers partisans speak out Tuesday on social media after team owner Mike Ilitch gives general manager Dave Dombrowski's job to Al Avila, longtime No. 2 in the front office.

Social media reactions include humor, relief, sarcasm, gloating, acceptance and even anger.

"Dombrowski spent two years tearing down a good team. Goodbye," Michael Raveane of Detroit, a corporate communications writer, posts on Facebook. A similar sentiment there comes from Kelley Killop-Marble of Shelby Township: "Frankly, I am glad!!!!"

Vic Doucette of Southfield shares this view: "I expected him to be gone about 15 minutes after the end of the World Series."

Pam Wong of Ann Arbor is more charitable in her Facebook comment: "Best wishes and thank you to Dave Dombrowski."

Deadline reader Joseph McGuckin of Taylor tweets to us: "Did not see this coming." Detroit author and freelance journalist Anna Clark tweets that it's "bad form" not to quote Dombrowski in the official statement. "It's amazing they cut him before his contract expires in 2 months," she adds.
