Well, in clinical terms, the diagnosis this season for the Tigers fan-base and its players is DEPRESSION.

Things looked so very hopeful in the beginning of the season. Then suddenly, they did not. The Tigers' front office decided to wave the white flag and sell off some of its top players.

Then, for the eternal optimist, it looked as if there still might be hope. Miguel Cabrera returned to the lineup. The Tigers acquired Daniel Norris in the trade with Toronto. Then he was injured. Then Anibal Sanchez went on the disabled list.

Now, the team really really sucks.

All that being said, Manager Brad Ausumus says about the remainder of the season, according George Sipple of the Free Press:

"No, it's not going to get any easier. You have to man up."

"When you're not winning, it makes it tougher. We've gone through a little bit -- not a little bit -- we've gone through quite a transition since the trading deadline. Traded away those guys, and then (Anibal Sanchez) going down."

"It's important for the staff to make sure they come in like they have a chance to win every game and still prepare the same exact way," Ausmus said. "You still prepare to win each series, win each night."

Third baseman Nick Castellanos, who has been knocking the ball around pretty well these days, comments in the story:

"I still look forward to coming to the ballpark every day. I love this game and I have a great time playing it. Obviously, I hate losing. I hate not playing how we're supposed to play. You're not going to be able to have a fantastic season every season. Our job, as professionals, is to stay professional. Go about it, play hard and continue to represent Detroit as best we can."
