Killer Draws 23-40 Years in Detroit Death of French Street Artist

Drequone Rich, charged in the 2013 murder of  French street artist Bilal Berreni, was sentenced Thursday to 23 to 40 years in prison.

Wayne County Circuit Court Judge sentenced him for second-degree murder.

Rich pleaded guilty last month. 

Dionte Travis, a co-defendant, was convicted last month of armed robbery and was sentenced to 16 to 40 years. His retrial for felony murder and a felony firearm charge is set for Nov. 30.

Jasin Curtis, 18,  was sentenced to 25 to 40 years for second-degree murder in June. 

Bilal Berreni’s body was found July 29, 2013, outside the Frederick Douglass Homes, aka the Brewster projects.
