We heard about Detroiters who shoot home invaders. Now, here's a woman who grabbed a baseball bat and started beating on a man trying to crawl through her window, Fox 2 reports. Her young daughter was in another bedroom.
The woman, asking to be identified only as Andrea, tells Josh Landon that she was sleeping Saturday morning when she saw a man's leg coming through her bedroom window at her home on Northlawn Street on Detroit's west side.
"This bat was behind my door over there," she says. "No sooner than I [saw] his foot through the window, I slammed [him] three times with this bat. I tried to break that leg."
The intruder fell on a branch outside and ran off, the mother adds. She thinks he originally broke in Friday evening and stole Christmas gifts, and that he was returning for more.
She had advice for the robber: "Get a damn job."
Andrea tells the station she plans to get a gun permit and move out of the neighborhood.
