Interesting things are planned for a long-vacant Sam's Club store in Farmington Hills.

The Motor City Harley-Davidson on Grand River in Farmington Hills plans to move 2.5 miles to the former big box store at 24800 Haggerty Rd. in August after renovations, JC Reindl of the Detroit Free Press reports. It has been vacant since 2006.

The dealership will fill 70,000 square feet of the 106,000 square feet and hopes to attract a brew pub restaurant and perhaps a gourmet market to fill the remaining space.

"We want to become a destination," owner Tom Celani tells the Freep.  "We want people to come and hang out."

The new spot will feature indoor and outdoor gathering spots for groups of riders and a drive-in/ride-in outdoor movie setup during summer months and will have on-site winter storage for up to 1,200 bikes, Reindl writes.
