Update, 5:05 p.m. Thursday: GM spokesman Michael Albano emailed a statement to Deadline:

Because this is an ongoing investigation we cannot comment.  However, we can say, GM has not requested the valet be dismissed.

To our knowledge, the valet remains an employee of the vendor.

Earlier article:

There's some confusion over the job status of Didarul Sarder, the valet supervisor at the GM Tech Center, who intervened and pulled out a gun to stop a daughter from continually stabbing her mother at the GM property in Warren on Wednesday.

Sarder works for SP+, a private Chicago-based company that provides valet service for the GM Tech Center. After the incident, Sarder told Fox 2 that he was fired, escorted off the GM property and told to never return because the company has a no-gun policy. Sarder has a concealed weapons permit.

Jill Nagel, a spokesperson for SP+ told  Deadline Detroit on Thursday that the company has suspended Sarder pending an internal investigation into matter. She said it was unclear if it was paid or unpaid. The company has a no-weapons policy on the job. She emphasized that he has not been fired.

Meanwhile, if he returns to his job, will he be able to work on the GM grounds? GM isn't commenting on that  (See statement above from GM spokesman Michael Albano).

Deadline Detroit reported earlier today that Warren Mayor James Fouts said on Facebook that the GM person who booted Sarder off the property has been overruled by higher ups at GM, and Sarder "has his job back." Apprently, he's not back on the job.

"I hope to honor and reward this good citizen for being a hero in time of need," Fouts said on Facebook. "Heroes should be rewarded not terminated. Didarul is a resident of Warren and a resident that we can all be proud of!"

The incident happened Wednesday morning when a GM employee, 57, was crying out for help outside the front entrance while being stabbed by a woman, 32, who had come to visit her. Sarder pulled out his pistol and ordered her to stop, Fox 2 reports. He likely saved her life. The victim was attacked by her daughter, WDIV says. The victim was in critical condition Wednesday and the suspect was taken into custody.

After the incident, Sarder says GM told him, 'You shouldn't have had a firearm here. After this is done he needs to be escorted off the property. He's not welcome back here." Sarder said he wasn't aware there was a no-gun policy on the property.

"I was really bummed out," he said. 'I got a little emotional."
