The governor's makeover among agency heads and strategic advisers continues as he grapples with the Flint water crisis and other pressures.
In his latest shakeup, Rick Snyder removed his press secretary and head of communications. Each is a former journalist at MLive and held their posts only a few months.
Ari Adler, who was press secretary for former House Speaker Jase Bolger from 2010-12, replaces Meegan Holland as communications director. The 1989 journalism graduate of Michigan State will be the governor's chief spokesman.
"Ari has a long history of service to the people of Michigan as a journalist, teacher and media relations professional,” Snyder says in a Thursday statement.
Holland, on the job since December, becomes projects manager in the governor’s office. She will initially focus on veteran affairs issues and the change in leadership at the Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.
Dave Murray is out as press secretary, a job he was promoted to in November after serving a Served as deputy press secretary since July 2013. No replacement is named.
Murray now serves as communications director for the Michigan Department of Talent and Economic Development. The governor's office said that Murray will use his talents to help spread the message of the state’s economic comeback and its plans for additional economic success.
