Trailer Finally Released For "Red Dawn," Which Disrupted Downtown For Weeks
August 10th, 2012, 3:00 PM
The first trailer for the long-delayed Red Dawn remake -- shot significantly in Detroit -- has been released.
The premise is the United States is invaded by a foreign enemy.
Russia?
China?
Iran?
No, North Korea.
North Korea?
North Korea.
The original "Red Dawn" played on Cold War fears, because it was released in 1984, when the Cold War was happening and Ronald ("Mr. Gorbachev, tear down that wall") Reagan was president.
Poor, unstable, crazy North Korea seems kind of ridiculous as an invader, but it's Hollywood.
Detroiters will recognize the landscape in a number of scenes from the trailer.
The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Adrianne Palicki, Josh Peck, Isabel Lucas, Edwin Hodge, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
