It's hard to totally ignore business suggestions by Dan Gilbert, Quicken Loans founder and Cleveland Cavs owner, who seems to have the magic touch in the entrepreneurial world.

He worries that Detroit falls behind in the competition to attract automotive technology companies and blames the lack of a unified strategy, Nolan Finley writes in The Detroit News.

Gilbert, who sees technology as the future of Detroit, and wants to see a greater involvement by Detroit’s Big Three automakers in revitalizing downtown.

He's suggesting it start with General Motors, the only big three auto company headquartered in Detroit.

“If GM wanted to build a new, state-of-the-art, technology-driven, incredibly attractive, digitally based place that would blow away everyone in attracting young people, it would cost them let’s say $1 billion," Gilbert tells The News.

“The car business is technology on wheels. The good news if you’re in the city-building business is that it’s a great time to be alive. Because attracting digital companies is less expensive and faster.”
