Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, who made an appearance in March at a Hillary Clinton party in downtown Detroit on the night of the Michigan primary, was there in Philadelphia supporting her again, delivering a speech Wednesday night that included shots at Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

"Detroit is 18 months out of bankruptcy, something Donald Trump knows a little bit about. But unlike Donald Trump, Detroit is only going to do bankruptcy once,” Duggan. Trump-run corporations have corporations have filed four times for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Duggan also credited the  City Council and its president, Brenda Jones, who was in the audience as a delegate for Clinton, for being his partners in helping to turn around the city, Kathleen Gray and Todd Spangler report from the convention in the Free Press.

"Jobs are returning to Detroit — new auto plants and businesses are opening, and Detroit's unemployment rate has been cut in half," Duggan said during his speech "People are moving back to our city in huge numbers."

Duggan gave no credit to Gov. Rick Snyder and his administration for helping the city out of bankruptcy, which likely lead to a statement afterward by the state Republican Party:

"Michigan Republican’s led the charge to create the grand bargain to help Detroit reach a bankruptcy settlement. These actions helped right our fiscal path and put the city on the road to a better future."
