It's not the first media scrutiny of the Ilitch family's unfulfilled neighborhood development promises for what it calls District Detroit around Little Caesars Arena.

Now comes a national examination.

HBO Sports is weighing in on the matter in a one-hour episode of  "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel," titled "Motown Blues" that premieres at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Louis Aguilar of The Detroit News reports.

The documentary's narrator says: "District Detroit has failed to produce a single house, apartment or hotel room to date."

"They promised it as something that would trickle down to the neighborhoods. It hasn't trickled down," U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib says in the one-minute clip below.

"They" refers to the Ilitch family, which also is criticized by Neighborhood Advisory Committee member Francis Grunow.

"I do understand these things take time," he says, standing alongside a District Detroit property. "But they opened the arena on time, ahead of schedule. They know how to do things when they want to do them."
