New York Times Visits the packard Plant

Allan Hill has an unwavering faith in Jesus and a slow startle response, traits that have served him well in his adopted home. For seven years, Mr. Hill, a 68-year-old semiretired auto-body worker, has lived in the old Packard plant, the concrete hulk that was once headquarters of the long-defunct automobile manufacturer and is now, in the words of the Motor City Muckraker blog, a “lawless wasteland.”
