Freeway Mystery: What's Behind Engaged Suburban Woman's I-75 Slaying?

February 10, 2013, 10:01 AM

Michigan State Police appeal for tips in a freeway shooting this weekend that killed Jennifer Ann Scavone, a 32-year-old Sterling Heights woman heading north from Detroit on I-75.

John Wisely reports on the case for the Freep:

Scavone's white SUV [a GMC Yukon] was on the left side of northbound I-75 between Leland and Warren Avenue, about a quarter mile east of the Detroit Medical Center.

State Police Lt. Michael Shaw said it's unclear if the vehicle was moving or stopped when the shots were fired.

Her body was found around 3:40 a.m. Saturday by a Michigan Department of Transportation courtesy van driver who stopped to see if a motorist needed help.

Investigators were interviewing Scavone's fiancé and others to learn where she may have been headed, Shaw said.
