February 25, 2013, 12:24 PM

Metallica will bring plenty of company for its groundbreaking foray onto Belle Isle: The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rise Against and Deftones are among the 30 acts that will join the hard rock titans as a new chapter kicks off for the venerable Detroit park, Brian McCollum writes in the Free Press.

Full details are being announced this morning for Metallica's Orion Music + More Festival, which will host five stages and tens of thousands of fans at Belle Isle's athletic fields June 8-9.

Passes for the general public are $150 and will go on sale 10 a.m. Friday at orionmusicandmore.com. Additional artists will be announced for after-show parties at Detroit venues.

Other music will range from Celtic punk (Dropkick Murphys) to artsy pop (the Joy Formidable) to gypsy rock (Gogol Bordello), with three Detroit bands on the bill: the Dirtbombs, Battlecross and the reactivated '70s punk band Death.
