Detroit Venture Partners Invests in Social Media Startup in Detroit

The tech world continues to show signs of promise in the Motown.

The latest: Crain's Detroit Business reports that Detroit Venture Partners LLC, the venture capital firm run by Josh Linkner and co-founded by Dan Gilbert, is expected to announce today that it plopping down $500,000 as one of the investors in Strik.com.  The first round of investment is  $2.3 million.

Stik.com, a social media startup based in the Madison Building downtown,  "lets friends on Facebook make recommendations to each other on such professional service providers as attorneys, doctors, dentists and real estate agents," Crain's Tom Henderson reports.

The two founders are Harvard grads from Metro Detroit. They moved the company from Silicon Valley to Detroit.
