So, fellow suburbanites, you know how when driving through Detroit you see piles of garbage dumped places and you wonder "why does Detroit look like this?"

One big reason is there are plenty of suburbanites and suburban outfits that dump plenty of junk in vacant city lots. Remember our good friend Ihor Stetkewycz from last summer? He's not alone with his use-Detroit-like-a-landfill attitude.

Now some people in Brighmoor are taking to the Internet to fight back against illegal dumpers -- be they Detroiters or suburbanites -- who trash their neighborhood. A new site called "Meet The Dumpers" aims to shame high-volume litterbugs.

There first entry is a success story of sorts.

They claimed to own the house and said they would clean the trash up when they renovated it. (A man identifying himself as the owner of ServePro of Redford admitted on the phone that they did not own property in Detroit.)

When contacted, a man identifying himself as the owner of ServePro of Redford acknowledged that the dumping had occurred and promised it wouldn’t happen again. He also sent his team back to the house on Riverdale to clean up the mess they had left.

So, first, good on ServePro for fixing this. Also, good on Brightmoor for not putting up with this (literal) garbage.

Hopefully, Meet The Dumpers helps people to remember to pick up their trash.
