Bid organizers asked Ford Racing team executives to demonstrate that downtown is well-suited for the rallycross event, according to RallySport Magazine.

Kevin Krease, co-organizer of detroit's bid, tells Deadline Detroit that ESPN is expected to decide "any day now" where to hold the four-day event in 2014-16. Finalists are Detroit, Chicago, Austin and Charlotte, N.C.
