As expected, the Pistons won't renew Joe Dumars contract as president of basketball operations, the Detroit Free Press reports.

Dumars will be an adviser, Drew Sharp writes:

As divorces go, this is the equivalent of a father getting visitation rights but having no direct input in his children’s lives.

Meanwhile, Vincent Goodwill speculates as to who might replace Dumars. His list includes:

■ Scott Perry, vice president of basketball operations, Orlando Magic..
■ Troy Weaver, vice president, Oklahoma City Thunder.
■ Mike Zarren, assistant general manager, Boston Celtics.
■ Gersson Rosas, executive vice president, Houston Rockets.
■ Travis Schlenk, assistant general manager, Golden State Warriors.
