Business Is Booming in Ferndale As Vacancy Rates Plummet

April 14, 2014, 7:35 AM

Funky Ferndale has come a long way.

Kirk Pinho of Crain's Detroit Business reports that In 2000 the vacancy rate in downtown Ferndale was well over 30 percent. Today, that figure has plummeted  to 2 percent, and in the outskirts of the downtown, the vacancy rate is at just 4 percent.

Pinho reports that industrial companies are investing in new space, and businesses are growing their workforces.

The publication also reports that more than a dozen business have expanded into larger space during the last two years or are opening this year.  -- A.L.
