It's hard on these streets for a pizza man.

Late in March a Jet's delivery driver in Redford fired shots when two men, posing as customers, attempted to rob him, Katrease Stafford reported for the Free Press

So WXYZ rode along with Derek Copeland one night last week. Copeland, who has been delivering pizza's since 1980, "right out of high school," tells anchor Stephen Clark he has been held up seven times. He now lawfully carries a concealed gun.

Copeland delivers for $3.75 per pizza — plus tips — for Gregg's Pizza, near McNichols and Livernois in Detroit's northwest section. In the kitchen, manager Karen McClain points out the ding of a bullet in the side of some equipment. Three of the pizza joint's delivery people have been killed over the years, she says.
