The Windsor Police Department is dealing with the embarrassment of one of its own getting busted trying to smuggle drugs across the Windsor-Detroit border.

The Windsor Star reported that cop David Bshouty, a five-year veteran of the force, was behind bars in Detroit after his arraignment for felony possession of a controlled substance less than 25 grams.

The paper reports that he's charged with trying to smuggle about three grams of crack cocaine into Detroit on Saturday.  The bust was part of ongoing internal probe into Bshouty.

“We’re extremely angry, we’re frustrated from top to bottom,” said Police Chief Al Frederick, according to the Star.  “It is absolutely not reflective of the commitment of our frontline staff. Day after day, the amount of work that’s going on in our community, on behalf of the community, the great successes that we’re having across the board – this diminishes all of that.”
