The Ford Motor Company tops Crain's list of the area's largest employers, with almost 42,750 employees in southeast Michigan.
Ford was followed by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV in second, with 30,579 employees—up more than 4,000 from the previous year—and the University of Michigan in third, at 29,855.
In other employment news, WJR reports 30,000 new technology and IT were created in Metro Detroit in 2013, up 15 percent from the previous year. -- Danny Fenster
