Steve Neavling of the Motor City Muckraker has been on a crusade of sorts against graffiti vandal in the city.

In his latest report, Neavling writes that a new generation of graffiti vandals show nothing is off limits.

He writes:

In the past year, vandals have saturated large abandoned churches with graffiti, painting over murals, confessionals, pews, altars, pulpits and stained-glass windows.

He goes on to write:

For many vandals, the bigger the church, the better.

Take the 103-year-old Woodward Avenue Presbyterian Church, a dazzling English Gothic-style sanctuary that once attracted 2,200 congregants. Despite hopes of reviving the church, vandals doused the sanctuary in paint. They also targeted connecting classrooms, hallways, stairways and offices, leaving virtually nothing untouched.
