It looks like Detroit is getting another Starbucks.
Curbed Detroit tipsters pointed them to the Gateway Marketplace shopping plaza at 8 Mile and Woodward—home of the Detroit Meijer's—where a Starbucks storefront seems to be taking shape. Curbed predicts the new location will also have a drive-through.
Starbucks earlier this month opened up a shop on Woodward at Campus Martius. Other city locations include midtown at Mack and Woodward; a shop on the Wayne State campus; and one at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino.
Starbucks obviously has its fair share devotees who are happy to hear of any new location.
But there have also been critics who have railed against chains, and urged people to visit independent coffee shops in the city. -- Danny Fenster
