Is attorney Richard Bernstein of the Sam Bernstein Law Firm going to run for for a seat on the Michigan Supreme Court?

Rumors have been circulating that he will.

When asked about it, Bernstein said:

"It's being considered, but no decision has been made."

Three seats are up for grabs in this year's election for Supreme Court justice. The filing deadline is July 7.

Bernstein, who is blind, heads up his law firm's Public Services Division, which advocates for the special needs population. The division does all the work pro bono.

Bernstein was elected to the Wayne State University Board of Governors for one eight-year term, including two years as vice chair and two more as chair. In 2010, he decided not to run for a second term.

He's often seen in commercials for his family's law firm.

He also was the subject of many stories in the New York and Detroit media after a bicyclist crashed into him while he was walking in Central Park in the summer of 2012. He broke his hip and pelvis and suffered other injuries. He filed a lawsuit to make the park more accessible for handicap people. He is currently locked in a legal battle with the city of New York in federal court.

He graduated undergrad from the University of Michigan and law school at Northwestern University.
