Big things are happening at an abandoned Hazel Park lumber yard on John R, north of East Woodward Heights.
Crain's Detroit Business reports that Thumb Knuckle DIstillery plans to open a distillery there in October to produce vodka, rum, gin and whiskey.
The distillery will operate in a 12,000-square-foot building at 24310 John R (pictured here). The building will undergo at least $250,000 in renovations, including the creation of a retail shop.
The owners await licenses to malke booze and occupy the space.
