Gallery: A Ride Down Colorful Trumbull Avenue in Detroit

July 28, 2019, 11:03 PM by  Michael Lucido

Trumbull Avenue is best-known as the Detroit Tigers' home from 1912-99.  Before it was called Tiger Stadium, it was known as Briggs Stadium and before that, Navin Stadium.

But it's not the near west-side avenue's only famous marker.

It's still home to Teamster Local 299, which Jimmy Hoffa headed, beginning in 1946. In 1957, the tough-talking union guy became president of the Teamsters, based in Washington.

These days Trumbull is still lined with interesting brick homes, vivid street art and good eating spots -- including Woodbridge Tavern, Pie-Sci Pizza, Lady of the House and Folk Detroit.

Deadline Detroit took a ride down Trumbull the other day and snapped these 23 photos.
