With all the new restaurants popping up, it's difficult picking the best.
Detroit Free Press food writer Mark Kurlyandchik selects Leila, a Lebanese newcomer at 1245 Griswold in Detroit's Capitol Park, as 2020 Restaurant of the Year.
Leila, which opened in October, serves iconic dishes of the region, "while exuding a grace and elegance that defies a large, high-volume restaurant," Kurlyandchik writes.
The Freep heaps high praise on the ribs, hummus and kibbeh niyee made from ground American lamb leg sparked with cayenne and baharat.
