Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's approval rates are improving.

A new poll by The Detroit News and WDIV-TV shows 59 percent of voters approve of her job performance — up from 36 percent in January — and nearly 61 percent of her response to the coronavirus outbreak. Her favorability rating is up to 52 percent.

The poll conducted in the first three days of September has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

Improving perceptions of Whitmer could help Joe Biden win more votes in November.
